The builder could not start the construction work over 15 years after allotment; then, the greater Noida industrial development authority canceled the land allotment to a group
housing project of the builder in Noida due to failure. According to officials, even the housing project map could never be passed. In 2006, 18141 square meters of land was allotted to Assotech infrastructure. According to Soumya Srivastava, OSD (builder department), the developer needed to complete all construction work in 6 years and then get the certificate of occupancy.
Letter these six years; the developer can obtain more time by paying a prescribed amount to the authority. But the owner of the housing project could not even get the map approved. He also did not apply for the extension. Soumya added that there was no provision to provide the concession if they passed the 15 years since the lease date.
In March, the assotech crossed 15 years of the plot allotted. In this period, the builder did not start any construction-related work. As well the builder also didn’t inform us of flat bookings. Saumya said that the builder would receive back 75 percent of the total allotment amount. Surrender Singh (CEO of YEIDA) said if any allottee doesn’t complete the project in the given time will be punished.
The departments have canceled the allotments to allottees who were not making progress for a long time. YEIDA will take possession of these plots and allow them under the new scheme.
